- use someone on the day of the wedding to communicate your plans to others and to make last minute decisions. A wedding coordinator is best. They've been there before and they know how to handle the emergencies. To avoid more stress on your wedding day, don’t get involved in directing people and answering the million questions that people will have - and most of them will be silly. This is your day to enjoy, not to work. Tell them to talk to the coordinator. Oh, and they also help you to stay on schedule!
- they can make or break a reception. Pick one that reflects your personality and what you want in a party. Go to a wedding they are playing and observe how they work with the bride and groom and the guests.
- when you choose a vendor that is going to spend a lot of time interacting with you, especially on the day of your wedding, make sure they are at good match with you. You certainly don't want a personality conflict that will make you tense. Photographers, wedding coordinators, DJs, and videographers interact with you on the day of your wedding and they need to be a good fit to your comfort level.
- you will regret going cheap. 10 years from now you don't want to be still lamenting, "I should have done it right.". These people are not just technicians, they are artists. Most of the time, the better the art, the more in demand, the more you pay. That's just a fact of life. Think of this as an investment for the future. You will look at the video and photos many times over the years of your marriage and they will bring back the good memories of your early love and romance. Then, your children will look at them and come to a better understanding of you when you were young and looking forward to a family. This represents the genesis of their life and they will want to know, even if just subconsciously, the love and joy of your union that eventually included them. It may sound sappy, but it's true.
We have more, but that's the big stuff...for what it's worth!
