What is Video Coverage?

Coverage is the time the videographers are available to shoot, not just the time they are actually shooting. Thus, if you wish the videographers to begin at 5:30 p.m. and you choose a 6 hour package, coverage would last until 11:30 p.m.

Do you attend the rehearsal?

We almost always attend rehearsals. By attending your rehearsal we can answer all the questions necessary to plan the videotaping of your special day. We observe the bridal party's placement and determine best camera angles. We meet the clergy and become aware of any regulations we must work around. We meet with the family members and bridal party and explain our presence during the wedding. Sure there will be last minute changes but our planning is flexible.

Why do you shoot with more than one camera?

We shoot with two cameras for three main reasons. First, it gives us two angles of the same event. When we edit your movie, switching between the two views, it's more interesting to the viewer. People get tired of seeing everything from the same point of view. Then also, in case one camera has a bad angle, chances are the other camera has a good angle. Secondly, not everything happens in the same place. With two cameras working the reception, we can be sure to capture some wonderful candied moments. And thirdly, it requires less movement by the camera operators. One camera requires the operator to move around during the ceremony to capture the important shots. But with two cameras, the operators can remain stationary, and thus, less distracting

What are the limitations of your videotaping?

There are several limitations you should be aware of. First, we abide by any restrictions of the wedding official, usually the clergy, and any restriction at the location of your wedding. We always show respect to the officiator and to the place of worship. We meet the clergy and ask for the "house rules" at the rehearsal so not to cause any misunderstandings during the wedding. We will inform you of any restrictions and how they may affect our shooting. It is the client's responsibility to negotiate any modifications of the "house rules."

The other source of limitation is from our lack of knowledge of what you want in your video. Specifically, we can't be sure we will shoot what is important to you if you don't tell us. We encourage you to make a list of any individuals, couples, groups or items that is at the top of your list for inclusion in your video. And don't be afraid to grab us during the wedding day and point to a something you would like us to shoot.

Will you split up your coverage time?

Sometimes we are asked to cover the bride’s preparation time and then come back later in the day for the ceremony and reception. Similarly, we’ve also been asked if we will cover the Ceremony in the afternoon and come back that evening for the reception. Both of these types of requests put a huge strain on our planning, since we usually schedule weddings a year in advance. In rare situations, however, we have been able to meet these special needs without incurring much extra costs, if any.

How far will you travel to shoot a wedding?

We have shot as far away as Florida and California. Any distance over 50 miles from Louisville, Kentucky is charged either by the mile, or if flying, the time involved in traveling. An evening wedding over 150 miles is also charged a modest lodging fee. If you are honeymooning in the Caribbean and you take one of us along to videotape, we'll shoot your wedding free!

Should we provide the videographers with a meal?

Since we will be working long hours on that day, providing us a meal and a location to eat would be appreciated.

How early do we need to reserve our day?

We reserve dates as long as 18 months before the wedding. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is best to reserve early.
